Heathcote Road upgrade to provide safer cycling

Roads and Maritime Services have announced an upgrade to Heathcote Road between Infantry Road, Holsworthy and The Avenue, Voyager Point.

The work includes a new shared path along the whole two kilometre length of the upgrade and replacement bridges at Harris Creek, over the train line and at Williams Creek.

The shared path will run on the western side of the rod between Infantry Road and the entrance to Holsworthy Barracks. At the Barrack’s entrance the path will swap to the eastern side of the road and continue to Voyager Point.

The plans are not detailed at this stage and it is difficult know if the intersection treatments will be effective, However overall the plans are very positive and will separate bicycles from motor vehicles.

If you are interested in fining out more there are two drop in sessions at St Christopher’s Catholic Primary School, 205 Heathcote Rd, Holsworthy:

  • Thursday 3 Nov, 5-7pm
  • Saturday 5 Nov, 10am-12pm.

Plans and a review of environmental factors are available at rms.nsw.gov.au/heathcoteroad
